When are restaurant owners going to get it ????
In the last few weeks two more long-standing Bucks County restaurants met their demise. Trevose's Steak & Ale & Richboro's KFC.
In my opinion, food quality & untidiness issues did Steak & Ale in. KFC died, I believe, from a lack of customers coupled with the declining economy. Neither of them advertised that much or brougt anything new to the table recently. In the restaurant business, you just can't rely on your past accomplishments and should frequently change your look & offerings to create a Buzz......
Newtown Pennsylvania hits a home run !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The CAPITAL GRILLE Restaurant is coming to the old Acme location on Sycamore Street. Obviously the big chains see Newtown as a destination location worthy of high-end type retailers. With this announcement other top names are sure to follow.
Want to see the Economic Slowdown in person?
Check out the brand new completely done totally unrented shopping center, 90% EMPTY brand new adjoining townhouse development, and the finished traffic signal structure with just one blinking red light off York Rd. in Warwick Twp., Bucks County. It's a scary sight to behold in what is an up & coming boom area of the county.
A Tough Summer Ahead for those business owners who refuse to think "Outside The Box"
Please Examine what all your competitors are doing to drum up sales and do something different to create a "buzz" about you and your product or service. Take that "Out of the Box" idea and make sure that all your current and past customers know about it. IT IS NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL ANYMORE. You must outsmart your competitors with some unique idea that will keep orders flowing in and your business a float.
OH.. OH....Stores for RENT -A- PLENTY on Main Street in New Hope too!
High Rents appear to be the culprit again............Hey Landlords: Isn't it better to get something rather than nothing? What's the Business Association doing about this sorry picture?
Anybody know what's going on BUSINESSWISE on Main Street in Yardley Borough?
I wish I could figure it out - thay have sidewalks like New Hope & Newtown but hardly a store that brings in any sort of foot traffic. I blame the high rent and lack of incentives and direction from borough officials.
Another BUCKS COUNTY RESTAURANT bites the dust ! Restaurant 552 in Newtown is no more..
This classy high priced eatery shuttered in Mid March bringing to mind...........just who is doing the Marketing Planning for these places and just what failed? I think the plan, if there were really were any detailed plans, were just based on that old assumption........"build it expensive, charge a lot, and everyone will talk about it and come back again & again." What the restaurant was in fact just plain ordinary... just an ok place with ok food, and no real theme. The location (off the beaten path) didn't help. This location as a restaurant has failed a few times now in the last few years ...........a satellite college campus or office campus might be a better fit here. ADD PIPPO's in southampton to the list - RIP - MAY 2008......
WHAT ! Haggling over price is happening at the big chain stores ! YEP.....IT'S TRUE !
The word is out that you no longer have to pay the stated price at stores like Best Buy, etc. If that's the case........."HEY, store manager you got a minute to talk to me about the price of this 58" TV?" Never thought I'would see this day...............
Hats off to a bucks county engineering film Specialty Engineering of Bristol , Pa. whose employees discovered the crack under Interstate I-95 and possibly adverted a catastrophe.
WHAT ? ...another ice cream shop coming to Newtown PA to try to replace Goodnoe's !
That's what going up next to Manhatten Bagel on Swamp Road. Hey Zebra Striped Whale, Rita's and the not yet opened Sweetpeas (on Goodnoe's old property) ............get ready for more scoops in Newtown.
Some Business Owners refuse to reinvent themselves once they meet adversity head on!
I've spent a lot of time with entrepreneurs who want me to try to get them into a new business once they realize what they have been doing successfully for years does not work anymore. It takes a unique individual to face reality and spend the time and money to find a new venture that will take them into retirement and beyond. There is no easy way to make "a lot of money today" and "not work too hard." The sooner you realize that you may have to work for somebody first -- even if temporary -- the sooner you may find a second carrer as an entrepreneur.
The Road Gets Rougher for Mom-and-Pop Shops -- Especially Retailers!
As consumers tighten their purse strings, the mom-and-pop businesses are increasing feeling the pinch and must arm and attack their target market with enough marketing savvy techniques to hold their market share. Off-the-wall or Guerilla marketing techniques bring attention to your business in unconventional ways. They create business uniqueness that allow your loyal customers to see you in a new light.
The Credit Crunch for Small Business Owners Tightens
The sub-prime credit crunch means small business owners will have to be more creditworthy to get additional credit lines approved. You must keep your books up to date and be able to produce accurate interim financial statements.
Just how many chain stores are enough?
The big chains are finally realizing that maybe every town in America does not need or even want a Dunkin Donuts or Wall Mart. Sameness is not always agood thing. America is bullish on the small local entrepreneur who will take a risk and deliver a good product or service at fair price. Given the choice - most of us will shop the local guy and even pay a little more to have that choice.
